Rheumatoid Arthritis: Hand Pain and Finger Pain

I am a 49 years old female, a bank loan officer, lead a fairly active life style. I had painful rheumatoid arthritis, specifically in the area of the knuckles of the fingers and also in my hands, feet, elbows, and other body joints as well. This condition had been worsening over two to three years, and was not responding to conventional medical treatment. Also , I had tried many different "alternative" treatments- all with little or no results. My hands were the most bothersome area of pain for me, since the accompanying stiffness and swelling made me work on the computer keyboard especially difficult. It was constant pain of 7 On a subjective scale of 0 to 10.

Immediately following the first treatment, I experienced an increased mobility in both hands, and a reduction in pain, stiffness and swelling. On the third treatment, I noticed that most pain and swelling in both hands are diminished. flexion and extension of the fingers had increased 70%. After 12 treatments in four weeks, I was almost symptom free. and strength was gradually being restored in both hands. To support and improve the duration of the acupuncture effect, the doctor suggested me to have acupuncture once a week for another 6 weeks and took a Chinese herbal formula for two months because of the systemic condition of rheumatoid inflammation.
For the last 3 years, once a while when I was under a lot of stress, I would have a little flair up. However, for most cases , two or three Acupuncture treatments is all it needs.
